Crawling Machine
Nathan has mastered the crawling thing and we are having so much fun! It is one of my favorite things he can do so far. In the video you will also notice his funny little kicks he does on his tummy before he takes off.
So happy to be mobile.
More Yard Work
After posting the sod pictures Ryan thought we should post our gravel project which we took on clear back in June. We had 8 tons of gravel delivered and my hard working man Ryan moved it all into the backyard. Our backyard is huge so we didn't want to put just sod back there. Here are some pictures.
8 tons of rock being dumped in our driveway.
Ryan showing the pile whose boss.
We had some friends help but Ryan did about 80% of it all by himself. Didn't I say he was a hard worker?
The final results!! It looked great. You can also see our tiny garden just getting started.
The fire pit area turned out really nice too. Ryan also built the benches. Is he amazing or what? Smores anyone?

Our Backyard is Finally Almost Finished!!
After waiting 4 years we finally have a backyard. Our house needed a bit of work when we first bought it and the backyard has been at the bottom of our list. It has taken a really long time to get it where it is today but it is beautiful as you will see.
This was our backyard the day we moved in. Lovely I know.
Our backyard had a greenhouse, a chicken coop, a beaten down sun room, weird sprinklers, lots of weeds and we won't even talk about the crazy "bomb shelter" (really it is a root cellar). We have since ripped down the greenhouse and chicken coop. The sun room is still standing but that will disappear some day.
Thankfully Ryan's dad came to help us on sod day. Here they are getting the dirt ready for grass. I can't tell you how many times we have weeded and tilled this backyard. It felt good to actually have some grass coming.
Of course Nathan did not want to miss all of the excitement.
Our sod being delivered. Our street has been crazy. They are putting in new water pipes hence all of the heavy machinery but our sod guy maneuvered through them like a pro.
After only the first pallet, Ryan is thinking about how much work this is going to be. I think he is trying to will it into the backyard
Here we are. All four and half pallets. Now we just have to haul all 10,00 lbs back to the backyard and lay it out. Easy enough right?
The fun has begun.
Nathan discovering the first rows of his new backyard grass for the first time.
While Nathan was awake we had watering duty (the grass and the boys). When Nathan went down for his afternoon nap I had the chance to put my time in laying sod. It was a lot of work and those strips of grass are a lot heavier than they look.
Almost there.
Taking a quick break before we finish the last of it.
And finally we finished!! It is such a beautiful sight. We were all so glad to have it done and couldn't believe the difference.

We still have a little more work to do before the backyard is finished but. The sun room has to go and we also have a fire pit area that we need to put ground cover down but in the meantime we will enjoy our lovely lawn.

Craft Night
Last week I hosted my first craft night with my friends. We all made these fun Halloween decorations. They turned out really cute and we had a great time crafting together. Ryan played a big part in it too. He cut out all of the wood for everyone and drilled the final holes to finish it off. We were so glad that it was a success and it was a lot of fun to get creative. I think we should go into business (not likely). (: Thanks to everyone who came. It was a blast!!
